With
the economic crisis and employment, the middle class has become the lower
class. The lower class
has become homeless, with no money for food, clothing, and for supporting
families. Governments are no longer giving any assistance. No support centers
or shelters for the poor and the needy exist.
Children are searching for food in garbage
cans. Some no longer
have homes. Without education, children
are pacing the street looking for food, and often end up committing crimes.
Many children now leave orphanages unprepared to take care of themselves or to
find a job. These factors greatly contribute to the high rates of suicide,
homelessness, prostitution, and crime among former orphans. New Hope Christian Mission is hoping to stop
the poverty and hunger for those poor, homeless children because they are the
future generation. We are hoping to
change their lives, staring with a hot meal, a change of clothing, and, most
important of all, a showing of love and care that each child lacks and may have
never felt before. The more children we
keep off the street, the safer the environment will be.
Currently, New Hope has four
Orphanage Centers in Ukraine and one in Moldova. A total of one hundred thirty
children come there four times a week to have a hot meal and to socialize with
other children. Clothing and shoes are also being given to those children. The
Centers provide opportunities to get to know each and every child, to answer
questions that they have, and to respond to their worries.
New Hope also supports The Infant
Orphanage Center in Ukraine. There, hundreds of children from zero to four
years old stay. Supplying them with baby formula, clothing, toys, medication,
and other baby needs is New Hope’s mission.
